Drivetrain sensor pair 2

Post by lilaim »

3.7L 6-cylinder 2017 Ford Transit 150

Hi everyone. On Bank 2, I must change the camshaft sensor. I've been looking in every possible place for the exact location of this. O'Reilly's Auto Parts located it on the firewall behind banks 1, 2, and 3, according to their extensive diagram search.
I am unable to see it even with my complete intake manifold turned off when I glance back. 🤯

Either I'm completely mistaken or I'm not seeing it well. I am in dire need of assistance; it appears that the camshaft sensor has entirely failed, and the vehicle will not start.

A brief history.
In the past, all it did was rapidly deplete my battery. But my Norco boost plus would be enough to get things going. It no longer starts; it only cranks endlessly.

After checking the battery and alternator, I now have a new starter. Only the camshaft sensor one code appears on the on-board diagnostics system.

Initially, it would only deplete my battery. According to my test, it's draining at a rate of about 3 amps!

After I disconnected the starting relay, the drain on the battery stopped. Even after switching it out for another windshield wiper relay, the problem persisted. But even after switching the starter relay for the windshield wiper relay, the latter remained inoperative. Thus, the relay is also malfunctioning.

A huge pre-emptive thank you to everyone!

Finding the Bank 2 camshaft sensor after removing the entire intake manifold must have been a major hassle. Have you considered taking a picture of the spot you've been searching? Members may be able to better assist you in your search if you attach a photo.

I managed to accomplish it at last, and it took me about forty-five videos on my phone until I discovered it. 😂 Regrettably, that failed to start the vehicle. Everything seems to be in working order: starter, spark plugs, and alternator. My current best guess is that the fuel pump is the culprit. My sincere appreciation for your response. Apologies for the delay in providing an update.

Towards the top/inner side of the valve cover region on the driver-side cylinder head is where you'll find Bank 2 Intake (CMP21).
The Bank 2 Exhaust (CMP22) is situated on the cylinder head on the driver's side, either lower or further out from the intake sensor.

Warning: Take the Bank 2 connection plug out and look for grease inside the plug or tattered wires near the plastic shell before purchasing a new sensor.

Verify the data stored in the battery management system (BMS). Displayed here are the "State of Charge" and the "Days in Service." The computer may be mishandling the alternator, causing a reported depletion, if the BMS indicates a 40% battery life while your charger indicates a 90% life.

A "Ripple Test" is one function of high-end scanners that can check the alternator diode. An enormous drain can occur when a blown alternator diode permits current to flow backwards from the battery into the alternator even while the engine is off.
