Changing the Battery in Your Starter

Post by bjorncoxxz »

Even though I started the car multiple times yesterday without any problems, I stepped outside to give it a go and got nothing. After plugging it into my Ctek charger, it reached the "7" mark and turned green, but it would not start. After placing the battery tester on it, the "REPLACE" lights started flashing. So, I'm trying to find the right battery online, but I keep receiving mixed messages. Is it possible to swap out the starter battery for an AGM battery? I don't think so.

I went to the shop in September 2024 and paid $280 with tax to replace my starter battery with a Mercedes battery after much study and anxiety. A two-year guarantee was included.

Some posts indicate that it is a Group 102R, while others place it in Group 24 or 27.

Rather than take the chance with a lower-capacity battery that wouldn't fit properly in the space with the factory brackets, I opted for the MBZ battery since, if my memory serves me right, I couldn't find another non-MBZ battery with the same dimensions and CCA.

The battery's part number is prominently displayed on top. Compared to other brands, Mercedes' prices are reasonable. Ensure you purchase the appropriate OEM battery.

I was able to get someone to answer the phone at the parts department of my neighborhood MB dealership. From this morning on, every time I dial the number, it goes straight to voicemail, and nobody ever returns my call. They do have them, and they're only $20 more than the Interstate battery. I plan to go over there either this afternoon or tomorrow morning (hopefully before they discover it and charge $800! LOL) to get them.

At the Benz dealer, I obtained that for MYU09. Approximately $300 Canadian a few years back.

In 2007, I had to get a new one because mine wouldn't start or jump, but it read 12.8 volts without load and 4 volts with load at Advance. So, I got a Diehard with a 3-year guarantee.
