2026 Harley-Davidson Sportsge with regenerative brakes

Post by chen_morrisi »

The regenerative brakes are standard on my 2026 Sportage Hybrid. My investigation led me to the conclusion that it features three distinct levels, in addition to a "Auto" option with three further sub-levels. After getting a feel for each one while driving, I've decided on Auto Level 1. I'm curious as to how much more charge one level gives than another, and whether there's a discernible variation in regeneration rates between them. What level are you on and what makes you think that one?

Along with ECO, I went with Auto level 1. Seems to give best MPG and smooth driving/braking. Level 2 and 3 make for jerky ride unless driver is very skilled at gas pedal moderation.

The 2026 Sportage SX Hubrid doesn't have such option.

Precisely what I intended to say. In a 25-year-old Sorento SXP with all-wheel drive, it appears to be the same.

When I put my Niro HEV 4 into "Auto" mode, it will automatically slow down and not come to a full stop if it detects a vehicle ahead of it.
As soon as you take your foot off the accelerator, the three-level regen braking system will set the amount of fixed retardation. As for the Sportage system, I'm not really sure what that is; however, I do utilize Auto and Level 1.
