Their phone number is invalid; how can one get in touch with them?

I believe I did that. I was informed that in order to determine the necessary gear, I should consult with the cam manufacturer. I wanted to know, "What is the gear on my distributor made of?" at first. Completely ignored my query; I suppose that's par for the course for Holley these days.

I have a Mallory distributor for an off-road Porsche 911, but I'm not sure I get your query. As an aside, instead of the usual (?) cast iron gears for the distributor, I had it customized with a bronze gear. Warning: Mallory used this almost forty years ago. Even though you'll have to change the bronze more frequently, it's mild and won't harm your camshaft gear. Plus, any camshaft may safely use bronze, in my opinion. If you are planning to change the camshaft at the same time as the distributor gear, that would be the best course of action. It has come to my attention that composite gears are currently in use as well. Although I am not familiar with them, I would assume that any camshaft could safely use composite material. BTW, make sure the gear is in the right position with respect to the teeth, mesh, and shim if necessary.

Sorry, I was wrong! Not Mallory, but MSD is my distributor. With any luck, though, you'll find some useful information here.

In response to my inquiry yesterday, Holley informed me that the gear was made of cast iron in a follow-up message. I had previously ordered a steel gear since this question was delaying the installation of my new engine. Today I received a notification from DHL stating that the equipment has been processed by German customs and that they require payment prior to shipment. I am planning to remove the old engine next Tuesday.
