X5 wash pump for windshields
So that I may replace my BMW's leaky plug-in play pump. To get that little component, I must remove the bumper, fender, and flares, among other things. I was wondering if anyone has ever gone to a body shop or a mechanic for this kind of work. I refuse to pay $260 per hour to have it fixed by a dealer.

The front bumper may be easily removed provided you have access to a garage and are not exposed to the weather. It was as easy as changing the oil last year when I had to repair a broken side reflector on the driver's side and a long-cracked fog light on the passenger side. To avoid damaging the car's paintwork, have a blanket handy to place the bumper on while it's removed.

Your reply is really appreciated. I'm wondering what you utilized to avoid breaking what seem to be those clips, as they are identical to the ones holding. My car's flare strip is painted, not black, and if YouTube reviews are to be believed, it's prone to breaking.

An assortment of pry tools that will not leave any marks. There are those available at HF. If you choose what looks right and apply it lightly (without forcing), it should fall apart easily.

When working with plastic components, it's best to do it in a warm environment, such as a garage, outdoors, or, if necessary, with a heated air gun. The glass transition temperature (Tg) is the temperature at which plastic breaks.

This was executed on an F25 X3. The front wheel well conceals the pump. The bumper can be left on. Although it was hidden, it was decent.
