Getting tossed around on the freeway in a sportage

Post by leo_alii »

I own a 2026 Sportage that is completely new. A 2018 Chevrolet Traverse was my previous vehicle. As soon as you hit the highway, this Sportage will throw you for a loop; it's that annoying! Today I put it through its paces to make sure it was running well, and it was. Are these autos more susceptible to wind gusts simply due to their design? I'm taking note of it.

Might it be the lane centering feature? Using it, are you?
In that case, try disabling it and seeing if it helps.

I let the car argue with itself on the highway as I activated lane assist, even though I normally drive without it.Although it was quite helpful, I could feel the steering wheel continually adjusting while the car being whipped about.

It's far more compact than a Traverse, however I can't say for sure if this is an intrinsic feature. Perhaps today is very windy?

Try driving a comparable Sportage to see if it meets your needs.

Vehicle-wise, it's likely far lighter than the traverse.
I haven't had any issues with wind, although the hybrid is heavier than the average vehicle due to the batteries.
On the other hand, I'm a proud driver of a Jeep Unlimited Rubicon, an aerodynamic shoebox that careens all over the road and makes everything else seem gentle in comparison.
