Shopping guidance for an additional W220

Post by gabriel_parkeru »

An RWD 2002 (March) S320 long version was located, but I have not yet seen it. According to the vendor, there is no rust, and the images don't hurt either. If the automobile is in one piece, it would be foolish not to accept it, as it is 2000 euros. Also, I require the trailer hitch that is already attached to this vehicle. In the dealer's opinion, the airmatic and electronics are both operational, but I will wait and see.

I am not qualified to inspect the vehicle for corrosion because my 2005 S500 is completely rust-free. So, how can I quickly determine if the automobile will rot in the next decade or if it has already rotted? Put otherwise, is it possible for these vehicles to have dangerously hidden rust that isn't immediately apparent?

I am thankful.

In New Zealand, that amounts to around S320\350. An further benefit is the partial facelift conversion. Ring broken? on the handlebars feels terrible, though.

Trims, under trays, fender linings, side skirts, etc., must be removed in order to conduct a thorough inspection, in my opinion. The best you can do is inspect the areas surrounding the batteries, CD changer, amp, and taillights, as well as the jacking points, sunroof, and the inside and outside of the wheel arches and fenders for visible signs of cracks or bubbles under the paint.

If it has been touched up or repainted, for example, you could see a few telltale signs.

I'm actually buying it because I feel bad for my 2005 S500 4matic whenever we take a ferry ride or when I think someone will damage it in a parking lot, etc. I suppose some of you understand this disorder.... :). Thanks for the suggestions! The car is supposed to have 270k km, but I can check with my SDS in multiple modules, at least two. I can verify this with my SDS in two modules, I believe, even though the car is supposed to have 270k miles. The reason I'm purchasing it is that I feel bad whenever my 2005 S500 4matic is in danger, as when we take the ferry or when someone breaks it in the parking lot. It appears that a few of you are familiar with this condition.... :).

In order to check for rust, have the seller raise the vehicle on a hoist and have a photographer snap images. As you said, rust was an issue with vehicles manufactured between 2000 and 2002.

Unfortunately, this is something that dealers in our nation will never do, particularly when it comes to automobiles priced around 10,000 euros. I can inspect it on my own; the automobile is just an hour away. So, it's not an issue at all. I believe I have some time because I got the news about it yesterday. The truth is, I won't be too upset if someone gets here faster.

By simply lifting it with a floor jack and sliding the phone camera underneath, you can achieve nearly the same results as using a lift. Of course, you could also try this in person when you visit the car. Based on the short rear door, it appears to be a short wheelbase S320, not the long wheelbase. If you go to the show, you can do it in person. Based on the little back door, it appears like that car is a short wheelbase S320, not the long wheelbase model.
