Rearview mirror for 2019 Sorento doors

Post by violetas »

In the past twelve months, my driver's power door mirror has been inoperable. Despite pressing up and down, neither the left nor the right buttons have any effect. According to my dealer, replacing the entire mirror would cost $800. Is anyone else familiar with this? Did they really think that would fix it?

We can't assume which mirror you require because you didn't mention the trim level or the features of the mirror. You can see that there is a wide range of functions available at various price points. You can find similar deals at online stores that sell parts for Kia dealers.

Without a camera or surround view mirror, 87610-C6010 has blind spot detection and a reverse sensor. Blind spot detection, a reverse sensor, a camera, and a surround view mirror are all included in the $513 87610-C6020 model. Equipped with a camera, blind spot detection, and a reverse sensor, this model costs $511. $585 87610-C6080 = no camera, no blind spot detection. The 87610-C6240 model costs $390 and comes with blind spot detection but no camera or reverse sensor. $390

How did the mechanic zero in on the left/right mirror motor as the source of the problem, rather than a faulty switch or some other electrical component (like the Driver Door Module)? Or is the salesperson claiming that the motor is fine but stuck in a mechanical state that prevents it from moving the mirror? This kind of failure can happen in a number of ways. It would be helpful if the dealer could confidently provide an analysis of the failure that identified a particular failure. Could it be that we already know more?

As an example, I included a link. Buying what you need online is three to four times less expensive than going to the dealership.

It cost $119 and had all the bells and whistles—heated seats, power windows, and side collision warning.

Installing it all by myself took all of thirty minutes.

Long ago, I encountered a comparable problem. I waited ten minutes before reconnecting the battery cables. Since then, the mirror's functions have all functioned as expected. I am unable to provide a rationale for this.

A confused Driver Door Module seems to be the likely explanation. It seems like the battery is like the "Big Red Switch" in modern electronics; it resets a dozen or more computers with the flip of a switch.
