Poor Construction Quality

Post by hassan.wilsonse »

Salutations Everyone,

Is it incorrect to say that the new G60's construction is subpar compared to what BMW is known for? The driver's seat shows signs of wear and tear, and the rear passenger seats, which have not been used or sat in, have dent marks. My G60 has 300 kilometers (or 000300km) on the clock.

Complaint: Severe tremors at speeds exceeding 100 km/h
I am reporting the windshield damage and will have it replaced soon.
Someone noticed that the back passenger seat has scratches.

I don't have any streaming services and I'm not willing to pay for any. I do have Navidrome, though. Overall, I feel like the G60 has fewer features than my G30. However, I had 3500 songs saved on my G30 and 5 GB of free space remaining. The back doors were fully accessible, there was ambient lighting both front and back, and there was an openable sunroof! In fact, I never even get around to sliding open the "glass roof" curtain.

I was informed that I could precondition the car using the actual air conditioning system, but I haven't seen that option. The only extra feature I've noticed is the Apple key, but other than that, it seems like everything is pretty much the same. I can precondition the cabin after opening the door; I set it to do so at 3:30 pm every day, but when I leave work around 4:00 pm, it starts immediately after I open the door. It was the same with my G30 520d. I was only able to disable the SECURE_VAR_HORN feature. I put our 5-week-old baby in the car, turn on the heater, and walk four meters away when the horn sounds. Suddenly, he wakes up and starts crying! Holy cow!

I've taken the necessary steps to inform BMW of the subpar quality of their recently manufactured vehicle. I placed an order with BMW for a custom build, specifying that it have individual seats and comfort seats.

Is anybody else experiencing similar issues with the new G60?

In your G30, was Merino leather an option? This is the cost-benefit analysis, since Nappa and Dakota leathers receive coatings that make them more durable, while higher-grade leathers do not.

That is the truth, unfortunately, of more recent models (I won't even go into the performance of the headlights or the fact that, beginning with the G30 LCI, there are no curve-adaptive low beams). Even though utilizing a USB drive isn't necessarily a dealbreaker, iDrive 8 did remove the ability to store music.

The "replacement" was supposed to be Comfort Access 2.0, but taking it off the back door handles is incredibly inconvenient. Normally, I disable Comfort Access 2.0 on loaners.

Presumably, there was some misunderstanding about the availability of air conditioning preconditioning on the G60 platform; however, it is likely that this feature is only available on the 550e and i5 models. This is because operating the AC compressor while the car is off requires an electric motor. On the other hand, wouldn't remote start work better?

The sports seats in my previous G30, which were Leder Dakota/schwarz/exklusivnaht, showed almost no wear after 300,000 kilometers.

No matter what file system I tried reading the USB drive from—Fat32, NTFS, EXT4, Linux—it just wouldn't work.

Neither the connected drive store nor the people who told me that the G60 did not have remote start worked for me.

Unfortunately, the G60 only comes with faux leather (Veganza) and Dakota is far more durable than Merino.

Lots of people have had to re-dye their seat bolsters because of wear and tear on their Merino interiors; you can find these discussions on M3 and M5 forums.

Is your VIN associated with option 1CR? This article suggests that not all Australian states allow remote starts, so maybe they didn't have it in your market.

With leather, it's expected that signs of wear won't be noticeable until at least 186 miles (or 300 kilometers, not 300,000) have passed. The seats bear the BMW Individual label, so I knew they were real leather. The ventilated cooling system is housed in a two-tone leather seat.

I only use the car's USB port for music playback, but it won't detect any of my three other USB drives—a 32 GB, a 512 GB, and a 1 TB USB C thumb drive—even though the port can charge a phone. I have no problems using the USB drives on my desktop computer; however, BMW specifies that Fat32 or exFat format is required.

There was no 1CR on the VO; I requested 2TB, and they gave me a blank stare before telling me that the gearbox configuration could only accommodate 2TE.
