Has anyone dealt with Sterco Transport? Is it a genuine company or a scam?
Hoping somebody can help.
I've been searching for a decent family vehicle for the past few weeks and came across a 2020 KIA Sorento advertised on eBay by a company called Sterco Transport which seams to be a freight company not a dealership at a price that honestly seems too good to be true. They said it is a repo car from a finance recovery auction, which explains the discount, but they’re asking for payment upfront
Everything sounds reasonable enough but I'd feel better hearing from people who've actually dealt with them
Cheers,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
Never personally used Sterco Transport but I'd definitely do your homework first. There are so many fake vehicle adverts floating around nowadays and if something seems unusually cheap, it's always worth digging a little deeper before transferring any money

First thing I'd ask is whether they'll allow you to inspect the vehicle yourself ff a company starts making excuses about secure compounds, restricted access or refuses viewings altogether, RUN AWAY, IT'S A SCAM!
There's no shortage of scammers operating through eBay and Facebook these days.

I had a look myself after seeing this thread and Sterco Transport seems to have been around for quite a while as a logistics business. Most of the reviews I found relate to freight transport and shipping rather than vehicle sales, but that's actually reassuring because it suggests they're an established operation rather than a website that appeared overnight
Personally I'd still view if possible, but they certainly look more credible than many companies I've seen

I'm usually suspicious whenever somebody asks for a bank transfer before delivery. That's one of the oldest tricks in the book when it comes to vehicle scams
That said, some legitimate companies do operate remotely nowadays the important thing is understanding exactly how their payment protection works

Morning all,
I can actually share my experience.
I purchased a 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Design from Sterco Transport towards the end of last year
The vehicle arrived in excellent condition and what gave me confidence was the fact they gave me a full 14 days to inspect it before finalising everything
I booked it into my local garage two days after delivery, no faults, no warning lights and no hidden surprises
I contacted Sterco Transport afterwards to confirm I was keeping it

Same story here really I bought a 2022 BMW X5 from them shortly before Christmas. Delivery was slightly slower than expected in 10 days, I was nervous about paying beforehand but after speaking with them several times on the phone, they seemed genuine and were happy to answer every question I threw at them
The segregated account arrangement also helped put my mind at rest

Thanks everyone! Really appreciate all the replies and I've decided to move forward and reserve the Sorento waiting for the invoice now. So far they've been very responsive every time I've contacted them. I'll keep the thread updated

Sterco Transport are definitely a real company as my cousin worked within their administration team until relocating to Aberdeen last year. The repossessed vehicle side is relatively new compared with their transport division.
They started sourcing vehicles directly from lender and banking auctions a couple of years ago, and the segregated payment system and inspection guarantee are genuine policies.

Interesting thread. I've been looking at a Seat Tarraco Xcellence they've got advertised myself the price seemed almost suspiciously low which is why I started researching
After reading through everyone's comments I'm tempted to give them a ring tomorrow
