I agree that it's crucial for the seal to be snug against the lid to prevent water infiltration and subsequent problems with the lid latch. If what I've read about AliExpress ones is true, they don't fit, then I'd definitely recommend the OEM Benz version.

A brand new replacement one is available for about $30 on eBay. It looks exactly the same from the outside. There are several OEM options available for less than $40 that are likely recovered from damaged vehicles.
I was able to exchange in under half an hour without using any bandaids.

Assuming you're certain it's a 460 large block, then the engine belongs to the 385 series.

Post a picture of the engine and others here can confirm its model if you're worried about a possible swap.
