Is the back fuse for my 2013 X5 35i missing?

Post by benjamin.cookca »

Hello everyone. Something is draining the battery overnight in my 2013 X5 35i, which is one of several problems with the vehicle. Right now, I have to leave a charger connected simply to get it started, but I want to use a good multimeter to check the battery and all of the fuses to locate the drain. It will take some time because I am now working on constructing a laptop for ISTA+. Approximately six of the error codes pertain to the FRM module. I will install or replace it once it arrives, so I got one from eBay. My inquiries, however, are:

It's really difficult to access the back fuses from the fuse box located on the front passenger side. If anyone has any advice on it, please share it. Unfortunately, I was horrified to see so many blown or missing fuses when I opened the fuse box for the trunk of my baggage. I made an effort to take a photo. Maybe this is the norm, I don't know. The two that are entirely absent from the OBD are the F130 and the F131, on which I am concentrating. Aside from the FRM-related error codes, I do not have any OBD-related ones. I have a go at pointing an arrow to the exact row where they are. I apologize if my level of concern is excessive.

2. I need to attach a meter to each fuse in order to identify the source, as previously mentioned. However, every single piece of internet guidance I consulted stressed the significance of keeping the vehicle in sleep mode throughout testing. The instructions were to use a screwdriver to manually lock the doors so the car would assume they were shut, and then to use the remote to lock the car. Nothing is wrong with it but the rear hatch. Even after I've locked the door and turned off the keyless entry, the lights inside and the button to close the door remains lit up. Am I failing to wait long enough for the vehicle to enter sleep mode? Alternately, is the back hatch different? Keep in mind that in order to reach the battery and the fuse box located in the rear, I need to open the hatch. Thank you for any assistance.

Determined on the choices that have been installed, not all fuse locations are filled.

Ok. From 2013 I own a BMW X5 35i.

Fuse box diagram for the 2013 BMW X5 - StartMyCar

If you examine the OBD's F130 and F131. Neither of mine is full. It seems like the F130 should be empty in that website's diagram. But a 5A fuse ought to be on the F131. Then is this accurate? Behold my likeness. Nothing is there. I was afraid popping one in might lead to complications. While I am inquiring about these specific fuse difficulties, I am aware that there may be others.

Can someone please explain the second thing I want to know concerning the back hatch and sleep mode?

Forget about Q2. It seems that after a while, the vehicle did really enter sleep mode. I let it rest for several hours without timing it.

Excuse me,

You can tell these aren't empty fuses because there isn't a pin to connect them to anything.
Please fold the backseats and enter the cabin through the trunk instead of leaving it open.

If a module continues to be active (which is common with diveristy antennas), the draining process should end when you reach the proper fuse.

A report. The headlights weren't working properly, and after running the error codes, some of them were connected to the FRM module. A secondhand FRM module was purchased by me through eBay. I got it yesterday and found a replacement tutorial on YouTube. Appeared to be rather easy. The plastic case was quite fragile, but I succeeded in removing the previous one. I was able to get the replacement one in, but it was more difficult to set up than the original since it had a metal plate on the back. By putting it all together, I was able to address not just my battery depletion but also ALL of my headlight/daylight issues. So, the culprit was an out-of-date FRM module. As if it had been subjected to extreme heat (or a short circuit), the plastic housing has taken on a discolored appearance. I am relieved that it has been settled. A big cheer! On to the following issue!
