Beautiful 2016 RR Sport Supercharged Under the Night Sky

A 2016 Range Rover Sport Supercharged (L494) with customizable ambient lighting was just acquired by me. I can adjust the brightness and color temperature of the ambient illumination from the touchscreen.

Yet, the illumination in the center console area is the only one that appears to be operational. According to the visual on the screen, the whole cabin (doors, footwells, etc.) should be lit by ambient lighting, however I can't find any lights anyplace else.


My inquiry to fellow L494 drivers:

Should the whole cabin be illuminated by the factory programmable ambient lighting, or is it typical for only the center console to light up?

The car is well equipped with features such as the Meridian Signature system and an interior in Cirrus and Ebony. Based on this, I would assume that it has the entire ambient lighting package, but either something is missing or isn't working correctly.

If anyone has experience with this model/year, I would much appreciate hearing from them.

The foot well region and the doors where the armrest is illuminated by the ambient lighting in my 2019 RRS Autobiography. To open the door from the inside, you need to know where to put your hand. At the very bottom, you should see a little LED. The console light is also turned on.

Customizable lighting is limited to the 2016 model year's console, front foot well, and door pocket lights, as far as I can tell. I installed customizable lighting in a 2016 HST.

A quick glance at the door panel will reveal if the door pockets contain ambient lighting or not. For a regular L494 Range Rover Sport, the front edge of the door panel features a relief that follows the upward curve of the pocket. Ambient illumination is absent from this version.

The number of LED chips within the lamp housings is a good indicator of the footwell lighting. The norm for white illumination is three LEDs. As for the ambient lighting variant, it uses 2 LEDs.
