The 2006 BMW X3 3.0i's dashboard battery light flashes on and off.

On occasion, after starting the vehicle, I will occasionally see a flashing battery light. Every cable has been double-checked and tightened as necessary by my mechanic. The serpentine belt is also operational. His multimeter is giving him typical readings. By the time I reach the mechanic's shop, the OBD II light has already gone out, so he can't even connect it to diagnose the problem.

Your vehicle's alternator or voltage regulator is my initial concern. Second, I think you should look for another auto shop. A code is left by any check engine or service engine soon light. Until deletion, it will remain stored even though it is no longer active.
